The Mazda 3 is a better option if you’re looking for a more refined and grown-up hatchback, but don’t let its patterned grille, rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets fool you into thinking it’s a sports car. The Honda Civic is another top contender to the Toyota hatchback since it is more entertaining to drive and just as practical.
Corolla hatchbacks are powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine, which is sufficient but ordinary with its maximum output of 168 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Toyota’s tried-and-true recipe for reliability and safety is unparalleled. A compact hatchback is an excellent option due to its fashionable cabin, long list of standard features, and high safety and durability ratings. There are 10 airbags in every Corolla hatchback, including driver’s knee and side airbags for the rear passengers.
Automatic high beams, front collision warning, pedestrian assist, lane departure alert with steering assistance, dynamic radar cruise control, and road sign assistance are some advanced driver assistance technologies built into every new Toyota. Exterior Design
All three 2024 Toyota Corolla trims come standard with LED lighting (headlights, DRLs, and taillights), and the XSE is the only trim with standard automatic high beams and LED fog lights. The SE is easily identified by its dark gray top grille surround, matching rear spoiler, and 16-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels. The SE Nightshade Edition is easily recognizable by its all-black exterior, comprising a black lower grille, black side mirrors, handles, badging, and a black spoiler, all of which are complemented by black 18-inch alloy wheels. XSE models include chrome accents and 18-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish.
Interior Design
The cabin of the 2024 Toyota Corolla is state of the art in every way: it’s well-built, feels luxurious inside, and comes in at a price that could surprise you. A leather steering wheel is included in all three of the available packages. Front sports seats provide enough support and comfort for long vehicle journeys and everyday use, but they are not designed with racers in mind. The driver’s seat at the front of the base SE has six adjustment settings.
The available upholstery colors are strictly limited to black and moonstone. The sportier SE Nightshade Edition is available exclusively with black cloth seats. Both Black and Moonstone mixed leather upholstery is available for the XSE Premium as standard. In addition, this model’s driver seat offers eight levels of electrical adjustment. The Corolla hatchback’s back seat is rather cramped and is best suited for only two passengers, despite its nominal capacity of five.
Toyota’s infotainment system is state-of-the-art, user-friendly, and packed with functionalities. It has a flawed six-speaker sound system and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system conveniently located high on the dashboard. There is a USB media connector, two USB charging ports, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment. All models include Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, or the SiriusXM satellite radio service. The XSE boasts a better audio system than the base model, with eight JBL speakers and satellite radio.

A Toyota Corolla hatch is far from becoming a hot hatch, despite its sharp, athletic appearance and compact, lightweight construction. While a CVT is standard equipment across the board, a six-speed manual transmission is available on the SE and XSE.
When driving in the city, the powertrain’s output and responsiveness are OK, but when rising to highway speeds or passing, they become slow and noisy. While top speed and a zero-to-sixty time of about eight seconds are not essential here, the Honda Civic’s optional turbocharged four-cylinder engine gives more eager acceleration.

The SE Nightshade CVT model may be purchased for $22,815. The base price for a manual gearbox Toyota Corolla XSE is $23,765, while the base price for a CVT variant is $24,865.
While the SE and XSE with the CVT have access to the supplementary packages, only the SE Preferred Package (which costs $1,350 and adds greater connectivity possibilities in addition to blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic warning) is available.
